Do you bill insurance?

I am not an in-network provider with insurance. Appointments are billed directly to you at the time of service. For insurance billable services, I am happy to provide a superbill that will allow you to seek reimbursement with out of network benefits.* While most direct services with clients have procedure codes billable to insurance, please note that indirect services such as parent coaching when provided by a speech therapist (without face to face time with the client) are not billable to insurance. Many services do qualify for use of HSA or FSA funds. Please check with your plan administrator to determine their requirements.

What are your rates?

Evaluations: The cost of initial evaluation appointments varies depending on clinical needs. We will typically spend between 90 minutes and three hours face to face with an additional two to five hours of data interpretation and preparation of a written report with recommendations. In addition to direct testing, evaluations typically include a thorough review of past records, parent report measures, and consultation with other providers if needed. Pricing ranges from $300 to $600 with a typical comprehensive evaluation of expressive and receptive language averaging $500. If you have a recent evaluation (less than 6 months old) performed by a qualified speech language pathologist that you feel accurately reflects your child’s skills, we may be able to get started without an additional evaluation.

Therapy: Follow up therapy appointments are typically 45 minutes scheduled once weekly. The cost is $135 per session. Pricing is the same via teletherapy or in office. For established clients, shorter or less frequent appointments are sometimes deemed to be clinically appropriate. We will make this determination together.

Parent Coaching: Appointments are generally 45 minutes held via teletherapy at a cost $135 per session.

How long will we need to see you?

Duration of therapy can vary widely based on the severity, type, and number of disorders being treated as well as family goals/priorities and response to intervention. Setting up effective home programming is an important aspect of every plan of care, and families able to facilitate home practice on a day to day basis can exponentially accelerate the pace of progress! Typically an initial plan of care is written for 12 to 24 sessions based on findings from the initial evaluation. Progress is continuously monitored, and a re-evaluation may be recommended yearly to update and reprioritize goals. It is not uncommon for clients with multiple or severe communication disorders to benefit from ongoing weekly therapy (averaging 40 to 45 sessions per year) for durations of one to three years or more. Occasionally, clients have much more focused needs and can benefit from short courses of therapy.

While some individuals require and can benefit from long stretches of continuous therapy, we can discuss other treatment models as well. For clients with multiple needs, “bursts” of focused speech therapy (e.g., 12 to 15 visits) alternating with breaks or bursts of other services (e.g., occupational therapy) can be an effective way to access services while reducing burnout or overwhelm.
